Phluffle can fill your prototype with AI-generated photos so it doesn't look like a wireframe, and the Image studio lets you swap any image for one you dream up, upload or reuse. Every swap is a new version, so you can always undo it.
Note AI images are only available when your Phluffle admin has image generation turned on. If it's off, you won't see the Image studio.
How images are added automatically
When the AI builds a version, it can leave placeholders where photos belong. After the version is done, Phluffle fills those placeholders with AI photos in the background:
- Up to 6 images per version, by default.
- A pill shows Generating images… N left while it works.
- If you run out of credits, or the image service has a problem, Phluffle uses a neutral grey block instead.
In Agent mode, this shows up as a Generate N images step in the agent's report.
Replace an image with the Image studio
- Open the rail (☰ Tools) and choose Image studio.
- A banner says Click an image in the preview. Click the image you want to replace. If you click something that isn't an image, you'll see "That isn't an image. Ask in the chat to add one, or pick a photo."
- The Image studio dialog opens with three tabs: Create, Upload and Library.
- Pick or make an image, then click Use this image.
Phluffle replaces the image you picked and saves the result as a new version you can undo.
Good to know The Image studio is for editors, and it works on a finished version.
Create an image with AI
On the Create tab:
- What should it show? Describe the picture (3 to 1,500 characters). Stuck? Click Surprise me.
- Style: Auto, Photo, Cinematic, Illustration, 3D, Watercolor, Sketch, Retro or Neon.
- Shape: 16:9, 3:2, 4:3, 1:1, 3:4 or 9:16. It starts on the shape of the image you picked.
- Options: make 1, 2 or 4 images to choose from (2 by default).
- If your admin offers more than one image engine, you can choose one here.
Before you generate, the dialog shows the cost as About N credits. Every option is saved in your Library, so nothing is wasted.
Upload your own image
On the Upload tab, add a JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF up to 12 MB. You can also paste one. Uploads are free.
Reuse an image from your Library
The Library tab holds every image you've made or uploaded:
- Filter by All, Made with AI or Uploads.
- Click Load more to see older images.
- Click × on an image to remove it from your Library.
Pick one and click Use this image.
You can also swap images by hand in Visual Edit, which offers Your image library too.
What images cost
- Each AI image costs what the image service actually charged, converted to credits, with a minimum of 1 credit.
- Uploads and reusing Library images are free.
- If you don't have enough credits, you'll see "Not enough credits for an image." See Plans and credits.
