The SEO Optimizer gets every live app ready for search engines and link previews. It runs automatically each time you publish or update, fixes the technical parts for you, writes search copy for you to approve, and gives your app a score with clear next steps.
Pro The SEO Optimizer is included with every live app. It doesn't use credits.
Open the SEO Optimizer
- On the Live apps page, click SEO on the app's card. The number next to it is the app's score.
- Or open the Live dialog in the editor and click SEO Optimizer.
Right after you publish or update, the page says it's optimizing: compiling styles, writing suggestions and drawing your share image. It takes about a minute and refreshes when it's done.
Your score
The score is out of 100, "Scored the way search engines read your app." Next to it you'll see how many things were fixed for you and how many are left to do.
Two previews show how your home page looks In Google and When shared as a link. They update as you edit the title and description.
Checks are grouped by who does the work: Fixed automatically, Your copy, Improve in the editor and Setup. Click Check again to run them again any time.
What's fixed automatically
You don't need to do anything for these. They're redone on every publish.
- A web address for each page. Each public screen gets its own address, like
/pricing, with its own title, description and canonical address, so search engines can list pages separately. Back and forward buttons work. - Private screens stay out of search. Screens that usually sit behind a sign-in, like sign in, dashboards, settings or checkout, aren't listed. Unknown addresses return a real "not found" (404).
- Sitemap and robots.txt at
/sitemap.xmland/robots.txt, kept up to date. - Ready for AI search. A plain-language summary at
/llms.txthelps ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity describe your app correctly. - Link previews. Shared links show a title, description and a 1200×630 share image drawn in your brand colour on iMessage, Slack, LinkedIn, X and Facebook.
- Structured data. schema.org data tells Google whether this is a website or app, or a company or brand.
- Loads fast. Instead of loading the 100 KB+ Tailwind script in every visitor's browser, the live app gets just the styles it uses.
- Images load when needed. Images further down the page load as visitors scroll.
- Language and mobile. The page declares its language and a mobile viewport.
Approve your search copy
The AI writes a title (up to 60 characters) and a description (up to 160) for each public page, alt text for your images, and a brand name. Nothing goes live until you approve it.
- Read the suggestions under Pages. Each is marked Suggested until you approve it.
- Edit anything you like. The Google and link previews update as you type.
- Click Approve all to accept everything as written, or Save and publish copy to publish your edits.
Image alt text is listed under Image descriptions. Approve it with Approve N descriptions. Alt text helps images show up in Google Images and lets screen readers describe them.
Want different wording? Click New suggestions to ask the AI for fresh titles, descriptions and alt text. Publishing the same version again doesn't rewrite your copy.
Choose which pages appear in search
Each page has an In search results checkbox. Untick it for any page you'd rather keep out of search. The Home page is always in search.
Brand name and what it is
At the top of Pages, set your Brand name and What it is: Website or app, or Company or brand. These shape your search results and structured data.
Improve things in the editor
Some fixes need changes to the app itself. Each one has a Fix in the editor link that opens your prototype with a ready-made prompt, so you just review and send it. It uses credits like any prompt.
- One main heading per page. Each public page should have exactly one main heading (H1) that says what it's about.
- Enough text to rank. Search engines need words to understand a page. Pages with fewer than about 60 words are flagged.
- Buttons and links have names. Icon-only buttons and links need a name for search engines and screen readers.
After the new version is built, click Update to vN so the live app gets it. The checks run again automatically.
Setup
These settings are at the bottom of the SEO page. Click Save settings after changing them.
- Show in search engines. On by default. Turn it off for private tools or while you're still testing.
- Compiled styles. Makes pages faster. If something on the live app looks off, turn this off.
- Google Search Console code. Lets you see how Google finds your app. See below.
- Bing Webmaster code (optional). Paste Bing's verification code the same way.
The Your own domain check reminds you that apps rank and get clicked more on their own domain. See Custom domains. Once a domain is connected, every page points search engines to it, so your Phluffle address never competes with it.
Connect Google Search Console
- In Google Search Console, add a URL-prefix property for your app's address (the SEO page shows the exact one) and choose HTML tag to verify.
- Copy the code, or the whole
<meta>tag, into Google Search Console code and click Save settings. - Back in Search Console, click Verify.
- Submit your sitemap: your address followed by
/sitemap.xml.
Use your own share image
The generated share image uses your brand colour. To use your own, click Upload image under Share image:
- PNG or JPG, up to 4 MB.
- At least 600×315 pixels. 1200×630 works best.
To go back, click Use the generated image instead.
Common questions
Will this get me to the top of Google? No tool can promise that. Search engines decide what to list and how to rank it, and new sites can take days or longer to appear. The SEO Optimizer makes sure they can read your app well.
Why does my app look slightly different live? Compiled styles occasionally miss something. Turn off Compiled styles and the live app uses the same styles as the editor.
My score dropped after I updated. New screens can bring new things to fix. Check the list for anything marked as a warning.
"The last check didn't finish." Your app is still live and unchanged. Click Check again.
