Versions, restore and retry

Every change in Phluffle is a new version. Open older versions, restore one as current, retry a failed build, stop a running one and see what it cost.

Every change you make in Phluffle is saved as a new version: v1, v2, v3 and so on. Nothing is ever overwritten, so you can try bold ideas, look back at earlier work and go back to any version that you liked better.

How versions work

Each prompt, hand edit, comment fix or coding-agent save makes a new version. New prompts always build on the current version, which is usually the latest one. The prompt box shows which one with Builds on vN.

Read the version history in the chat

The chat on the left is your version history. For each version you'll see:

  • Your prompt and a short summary of what changed.
  • A collapsed N changes list you can open for the details.
  • A vN link to open that version (it reads vN · viewing when you're looking at it).
  • Current on the current version, or a Restore button on the others.
  • The credits that version used.

Some versions carry a badge that says where they came from:

Badge Made by
Edited by hand Visual Edit
Built with Phlow Phlow on the Canvas
Fix with AI from a comment Fix with AI
Edited by {agent} / Requested by {agent} A coding agent such as Claude Code or Cursor

Open an older version

Click the vN link on any version in the chat. The preview switches to that version so you can click through it. Opening a version doesn't change anything; the current version stays current until you restore another one.

Note Visual Edit only works on the current version. To hand-edit an older one, restore it first.

Restore an older version

  1. Open the version you want, or find it in the chat.
  2. Click Restore (its hint says "New prompts will build on this version").

You'll see "Version N is now current. New prompts will build on it." Restoring doesn't delete anything: the newer versions are still there, and you can restore one of them later. Only finished versions can be restored.

Retry a version that failed

Sometimes a build doesn't finish. When that happens:

  • The chat says That didn't work. with a Try again button.
  • The preview says Version N didn't build, also with Try again.

Click Try again to run the same prompt again with your current model. Anything still running after 15 minutes is marked as failed.

Failed versions aren't charged.

Stop a version while it builds

Click Stop while a version is building. The chat shows Stopped. and either:

  • "Charged N credits for the part that was written.", or
  • "Nothing was charged."

Click Run it again to start the same prompt over.

Watch a build live

While a version builds, screens stream into the preview as they're written. If you open an older version during a build, use the toggle to switch between Watch live and Show vN.

You can leave the page while a version builds; it keeps going.

Download a version

To get a copy of a version as one file, open Take it to code and choose Just the HTML file. It downloads the version you're viewing. See Take it to code for other options.

Try it in Phluffle. Free to start with 100 credits.
